Chicago-based plant-based seafood startup Aqua Cultured Foods has raised USD 5.5 million in a seed funding round led by Stray Dog Capital, with participation from H Venture Partners, Aztec Capital Management, and others.
The new investment will upgrade the company’s recently acquired food-grade facility. The funds will also support the market launch of Aqua’s products, talent acquisition, and the expansion of food service partnerships for product introductions later this year. The funding announcement coincides with Aqua’s planned consumer tastings of its products in Chicago starting today.
