Torc Robotics and C. R. England to pilot autonomous trucks for refrigerated freight market

Partnerships

  • Torc Robotics, the autonomous trucking subsidiary of Daimler, has announced a strategic collaboration with truckload carrier company C.R. England to pilot Level 4 autonomous trucks aimed at the refrigerated freight market.

  • The pilot will provide select customers with trucks to deliver temperature-controlled loads for long haul applications. Torc will utilize the information gathered from the pilot to further develop its solutions. The companies intend to begin initial planning for the pilot in mid-2023, with road tests to follow.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This partnership enables Torc to expand its autonomous trucking operations to cater to the refrigerated freight market. Torc’s competitors such as Kodiak Robots and Aurora Innovation have also recently launched pilots for refrigerated trucking.
