GM’s Cruise to begin robotaxi services in Atlanta, Georgia

Geographic expansion

  • General Motors' (GM's) autonomous car subsidiary, Cruise, is expanding its robotaxi service to Atlanta, Georgia. The company has started initial testing of its self-driving vehicles in the city, with plans to launch a robotaxi service in the area eventually.

  • The expansion comes as a part of the company’s plans to launch the service in more locations throughout the year.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Cruise's expansion has been rapid, moving from operating only in San Francisco (California) to nine cities within a span of about a year and a half. The list includes Phoenix (Arizona), Austin , Houston, Dallas (Texas), Miami (Florida), and more recently, Nashville (Tennessee) and Los Angeles (California). However, Cruise currently has commercial operations in only three of the cities—namely, San Fransisco, Austin, and Phoenix.
