General Motors' (GM's) autonomous car subsidiary, Cruise, is expanding its robotaxi service to Charlotte, North Carolina.
The company has started initial testing of its self-driving vehicles in the city, with plans to launch a robotaxi service in the area eventually.
Analyst QuickTake: Cruise has been strategically augmenting its geographical presence at a notable pace in recent weeks. Such expansions include launching the tests in areas such as Miami (Florida), Nashville (Tennessee), Los Angeles (California) , and Atlanta (Georgia) , bringing its operations to 10 cities in total. However, Cruise currently has commercial operations in only three cities—San Fransisco, Austin, and Phoenix.
