Spinnova launches sustainable denim fabrics

Product updates

  • Spinnova, a Finnish sustainable textile fiber producer, launched its first blended denim fabric made with Spinnova fiber at the Kingpins denim trade show in Amsterdam on October 18–19, 2023.

  • The denim fabric is produced from certified eucalyptus pulp and has lower CO2 emissions and water consumption compared to conventional cotton production. Fabric and consumer goods using Spinnova fiber are expected to become available in the market by 2024.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Spinnova is actively taking necessary steps toward upgrading and commercializing its technology. In September this year, the company partnered with Renewcell to develop and commercialize textile waste-based fiber. Last year, the company secured a EUR 1.6 (~USD 1.6 million) million grant for R&D projects, with a focus on developing new applications such as composites and non-wovens, as well as "dope-dye" technology to dye fibers prior to yarn production.
