UK firms BSF (Bio-Sustainable Futures) Enterprise and CellRev have partnered to form the joint venture (JV), Cultivated Meat Technologies Limited (CMT).
The JV will leverage the serum-free growth medium City-Mix (developed by BSF’s subsidiary, 3D Bio Tissues) and CellRev’s cost-effective, scalable cell processing platform to scale up the production of cultivated meat.
Analyst QuickTake: BSF Enterprise and CellRev are two leading players in the UK’s cultivated meat industry. BSF Enterprises recently developed a 100% cultivated pork steak filet, made solely with pig cells without using any plant-based scaffolds, blends, or fillers, while CellRev partnered with Saint-Gobain Life Sciences to develop a novel process for media rejuvenation that results in reduced costs and waste in the production of cell-cultured meat.
