Zipline partners with Mubea Aviation to develop advanced composite drones for delivery services

Partnerships

  • Zipline, a drone-based delivery services provider, has expanded its partnership with composite manufacturing company Mubea Aviation to integrate Mubea's carbon fiber and advanced composites in Zipline's drones.

  • The company aims to enhance the efficiency and payload-carrying capabilities of Zipline’s drones through this integration.

  • The duo first partnered in 2022. The drones developed with Mubea’s composite technology enhancements are currently in production and are slated for operational use this year.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Using composite components in drones has been a trend lately. In fact, peer UK- and Bulgaria-based middle-mile cargo drone manufacturer Dronamics also has manufacturing partnerships with Quickstep Holdings, an Australia-based aerospace composites firm (July 2022), and Cotesa, a German composite fiber components producer (September 2022), for similar purposes.
