Revo Foods launches plant-based octopus alternative 'THE KRAKEN'

Product updates

  • Austrian plant-based seafood startup Revo Foods has unveiled what it claims to be the first vegan octopus alternative, THE KRAKEN. The product is exclusively available on Revo's web store and offers delivery to most European countries, including Austria, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, and more.

  • THE KRAKEN, made from mycoprotein, uses a unique 3D structuring approach in production and claims to offer the aroma, taste, and texture of real octopus meat. Additionally, it has a Nutriscore A rating and is high in omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fiber.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Revo Foods recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for EUR 1.5 million (~USD 1.6 million), of which over EUR 1.1 million (~USD 1.2 million) has already been raised. The company is known for innovative plant-based seafood products like its 3D-printed whole-cut salmon filet, which launched into retail in September 2023 , marking the first 3D-printed alternative meat to launch into retail.
