Deep Sky, a Canadian carbon removal project developer, has joined forces with Skytree, a Netherlands-based developer of decentralized direct air capture (DAC) systems, to deploy a carbon removal unit at Deep Sky Labs in Canada.
Through this partnership, the Skytree Stratus, a module designed to remove CO2 from the environment, will be deployed at Deep Sky Labs. Both parties will also explore scaling up to a Skytree Stratus DAC hub as part of the evaluation phase at Deep Sky Labs.
The performance of the air processing unit will be closely monitored, and data on carbon capture efficiency, energy consumption, temperature, etc. will be collected.
The installation is scheduled for 2024 and is designed to utilize the region's renewable hydroelectric power.
Analyst QuickTake : Deep Sky entered similar DAC pilots with Avnos , a hybrid DAC company, in March; with NEG8 Carbon , an Irish DAC startup; and with Greenlyte Carbon Technologies , a German DAC startup, in February at its Deep Sky Labs.
