China-based DPVR announced its E4 Arc VR headset, incorporating Ultraleap's Leap Motion Controller 2 hand-tracking camera, slated to ship from late May onwards. The integration allows users to operate and engage with virtual reality environments without separate controllers.
The E4 Arc headset is geared specifically toward arcade game manufacturers, corporate training, and 3D designers, with the Ultraleap hand-tracking camera enabling the device to be utilized for collaborative spatial design, prototyping, and visualization of CAD designs. Other features include a cooling system for heat control and easily replaceable cables for easy maintenance.
DPVR’s R&D team is also conducting compatibility tests to ensure an optimized gaming experience for hand-tracking supported titles in the SteamVR library, including Half-Life: Alyx, VRChat, and others.
Analyst QuickTake: The E4 Arc headset likely incorporates the new cooling and audio systems announced by the company in February 2024 , and follows the launch of its E4C headset in October 2023 , tailored toward VR arcade operators. Additionally, Ultraleap’s Leap Motion 2 Controller (launched in May 2023 and priced at USD 139), offers improved camera resolution, a wider field-of-view (FOV), and lower power consumption than its predecessor.
