OpenAI signs licensing agreements with The Atlantic and Vox Media for content training

Partnerships

  • OpenAI has entered into licensing agreements with The Atlantic and Vox Media, enabling it to use the content of these media outlets to train its AI models and integrate them within ChatGPT.

  • As per the agreement, OpenAI will use the content from The Atlantic and Vox Media, including a variety of their articles and archives, to refine its AI models and showcase them within ChatGPT with relevant attribution links.

  • Furthermore, Vox Media plans on leveraging OpenAI’s technology to optimize its affiliate commerce product and expand its ad data platform, while The Atlantic aims to use the partnership to experiment with AI tools to enhance its journalism capabilities and better serve its readers. These agreements also offer a safeguard for OpenAI against potential copyright lawsuits.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This marks the fourth partnership with media companies for the month, including News Corp , Reddit , and Dotdash Meredith (DDM) , to enhance OpenAI's ChatGPT with verified content, and to train its models. The company has also partnered with several other news content publishers, including Financial Times , French newspaper Le Monde, Spanish media company Prisa Media , Axel Springer, Politico, and European publications Bild and Welt and The Associated Press.
