The Better Meat Co., a plant-based ingredients company, announced a reduction of over 30% at scale in production costs for Rhiza mycoprotein, enabling the company to target price parity with commodity beef prices. The reduction was achieved using 9,000-liter fermentation systems, enabling economies of scale.
Rhiza mycoprotein is an all-natural, allergen-free, whole-food ingredient. According to the company, it contains more protein than eggs, more iron and zinc than beef, more fiber than oats, and more potassium than bananas. Moreover, it is free from cholesterol and saturated and trans fats.
