Mosa Meat, a Dutch cell-based meat company, conducted the first official tasting of its cultivated beef product, the Mosa Burger, in the Netherlands. The tasting event gathered Dutch cattle farmers, food product developers, and industry representatives to collect expert feedback.
This event marks the first formal tasting of cultivated beef in the EU, following the greenlighting of cultivated meat tastings in the Netherlands last year. In addition to assessing the market-readiness of its cultivated beef, the company also aimed to explore the potential of cultivated beef fats to enhance plant-based meat products.
Analyst QuickTake: The greenlighting of cultivated meat tasting in the Netherlands involved the introduction of a "code of practice" that allows tastings of cultivated foods under controlled conditions before EU-wide approval for sales. While this is the first EU-wide official cultivated meat-tasting event, in April 2024 , Meatable conducted a private, single-market tasting event of its cultivated pork products.
