Lilium, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft developer, has powered its first full-scale test aircraft, the MSN 1 airframe. This milestone marks a significant step in the company's development process for its eVTOL technology.
The MSN 1 airframe will be a ground testbed for Lilium's eVTOL aircraft. This test platform will allow the company to conduct ground-based evaluations and system checks before flight testing.
Using the MSN 1 airframe as a ground testbed, Lilium aims to validate and refine its eVTOL technology, potentially accelerating the development process and ensuring the aircraft's readiness for future flight tests.
Analyst QuickTake: To support the development, testing, and operations of its eVTOL aircraft, in February 2024 , Lilium launched POWER-ON, the eVTOL industry's first customer service organization, offering a full suite of aircraft manufacturer services to customers. Following this, POWER-ON was expanded in July 2024 to its next phase, the Aftermarket Services portfolio, to supply digital solutions for Lilium Jet's operations. In August 2024 , Lilium commenced integration testing of the jet's electrical power system at its new electrical power system lab to collect data and demonstrate the jet’s safety and compliance with the requirements of the EASA.
