Drone Express rebrands as DEXA; applies for FAA approval for commercial drone-based deliveries in the US

Management news
Regulation/policy

  • Drone Express, the drone delivery arm of TELEGRID Technologies, has rebranded as DEXA, as applied for the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) Part 135 certified Air Carrier certificate, which would allow it to conduct autonomous beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) flight operations commercially across the US.

  • The rebrand marks a strategic shift from operating under Part 107 to becoming a federal unmanned aircraft systems operator, highlighting DEXA’s broader focus on autonomous aircraft and last-mile logistics.

  • Analyst QuickTake : Once received, Drone Express will join the handful of companies that have obtained the Part 135 certification in the US. Other players to have received the approval include Matternet’s Ameriflight (May 2023), Flytrex (January 2023), Zipline (June 2022), Amazon Prime Air (August 2020), UPS Flight Forward (October 2019), and Google Wing (April 2019).
