Shopic, an Israel-based developer of smart cart solutions, has partnered with digital consultancy Capgemini and French retailer Intermarché to pilot smart carts at a store in Provins, France.
The partnership introduces AI-powered clip-on devices for shopping carts that can automatically detect items, track budgets in real time, display loyalty points, and show promotions. The system aims to streamline checkout processes for customers, with plans to integrate retail media features for personalized advertising, such as advertisements and supplier offers throughout the shopping journey.
Analyst QuickTake: Intermarché is the latest French retailer to add smart carts to its stores. French retailers Monoprix , Franprix , and Carrefour in partnership with Israeli technology solutions provider A2Z Smart Technologies have also launched smart carts at their stores in recent years (since 2022).
