Nala Robotics, an AI-powered robotic restaurant, has opened its first location in Naperville, Illinois. Initially, its robotic kitchen will prepare wings and fried chicken and will be expanded to include Thai and South Indian menus.
The robot will operate 24/7 and during the off-peak hours, the restaurant plans to prepare prepackaged foods that can be sold at local grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores. Customers can also subscribe to customized meal plans based on dietary requirements—a feature that is yet to be rolled out.
The company plans to open 10 restaurant locations next year and scale operations to include 100 locations by 2024.
Nala Robotics also announced several partnerships with undisclosed celebrity chefs to power their cloud kitchens.

Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this year , Nala Robotics announced its plans to open the restaurant by April. However, there has been a delay in the launch for unspecified reasons. Its peer Kitchen Robotics launched its multi-cuisine robotic kiosk in August 2020, which is primarily pitched towards cloud kitchens, while a similar food bowl kiosk developer Karakuri unveiled its robot last December and announced its first large-scale deployment this September .
