Serve Robotics raises USD 13 million in seed funding

Funding

Serve Robotics, a spin-off from Uber that operates delivery droids, has raised USD 13 million in an extension to its seed funding round in March, from strategic investors including Uber, Delivery Hero-backed DX Ventures, 7-Eleven’s corporate venture arm 7-Ventures, and Wavemaker Labs with participation from existing investors.

 • The company plans to utilize the funds to accelerate commercialization, expand its fleet, tap into new geographical markets through new partnerships, and continue product development.

Analyst QuickTake: Serve started as the in-house delivery droid project of now Uber-owned Postmates in 2018 and was spun off as a standalone startup in March 2021. The news comes on the heels of the company announcing its first commercial deployment in partnership with its investor Uber to bring on-demand food delivery to Uber Eats customers, starting from Los Angeles in early 2022.
