Starship Technologies, an autonomous delivery droid manufacturer, has raised USD 42 million in a Series B funding round led by NordicNinja and Taavet+Sten with participation from investors including TDK Ventures and Goodyear. This brings the company’s total funds raised to roughly USD 200 million.
The company intends to utilize the funds to expand its market reach in Europe and the US and invest in new initiatives. Few such initiatives under the radar include developing droids that can travel on roads in addition to sidewalks, facilitating food orders via partnering companies’ apps in addition to its own, and a change in business model to include outright sales.
Today, the company also revealed that it now has a fleet of 1,700+ droids delivering 10,000+ orders per day.

Analyst QuickTake: Today’s news comes just one month after Starship received EUR 50 million (USD 57 million) in quasi-equity financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB). Starship is by far the most funded startup in the droid-based delivery space, followed by Coco Robotics with USD 43 million raised to date. Starship is also the only droid manufacturer with established commercial operations, and its services span the US, the UK, and some other European countries.
