Tata Consultancy Services (NSE: TCS) is an Indian multinational IT services and consulting company that was initially founded as Tata Computer Systems in 1968 by a division of the Tata Group (its parent company). The company is one of the largest IT services providers in the world and is recognized as the second most valuable brand in the IT services sector globally, according to Brand Finance. The company made its IPO in 2004 and was ranked the second most valuable IT services brand globally in 2024 . TCS generated revenue of INR 2.3 trillion (USD 27.6 billion) in FY2023 (year ending March 31st).

The company primarily offers consulting-led IT services and business solutions for enterprises of all sizes to enable digital transformation, create and deploy new business models, improve customer and employee experiences, and promote innovation. These services include consulting and service integration, application services, digital transformation services, cloud services, engineering services, cognitive business operations, products, and platforms. TCS broadly generates revenue from consultancy services and the sale of equipment and software licenses. 

TCS has a global presence, with operations across 54 countries in North America, Latin America, the UK, Continental Europe, Asia-Pacific, India, and the Middle East and Africa. North America represents TCS’ largest market (~53% of total revenue in FY2023), followed by Europe (~30%).

The company planned to reach a future revenue target of USD 50 billion by 2030 (implying an 8.9% CAGR over FY2023–FY2030) through further investment in research and innovation toward the improvement of existing technology in several fields. The company also planned to reduce its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 70% across Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 2025 and reach net zero emissions by 2030. In FY2023, TCS increased its renewable energy use to ~55% of its total energy use and became carbon neutral across Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions for its operations in Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, and the Middle East and Africa.
