CarbonCapture develops modular units to capture CO2 directly from the atmosphere. The company was incubated at Idealab Studio, along with Heliogen and Energy Vault. The company uses zeolites for capturing CO2.
The company was developing Project Bison, a DAC facility in Wyoming, in partnership with carbon storage developer Frontier Carbon Solutions and Twelve. It intended to capture five million tons of CO2 per annum by 2030 once the facility was fully operational. In September 2024, CarbonCapture halted the development of Project Bison in order to relocate to another state due to competition for renewable energy from rapidly growing data centers. This has delayed the operationalisation of the project.
