ProFuse Technology

ProFuse Technology is an Israeli cell-cultured technology startup, operated by the food company Tnuva and the beverage company Tempo. The company’s flagship product, PROFUSE-S1, is a growth media supplement that claims to accelerate muscle fiber growth, which results in reduced production time, and increased capacity in cell-cultured meat production. According to the company, this can be used on various cells and media types including serum-free media formulations for cultivated meat production.

In September 2023, the company unveiled a new scaffolding 3D growth technology, enabling cultivated meat production within 48 hours. This technology claims to enhance the protein content of the muscle tissue by 5x that of animal meat and does not require genetic modification. Further, in February 2024, the company introduced a new cell line, PROFUSE-B8. This cell line aims to help cultivated meat producers establish scalable, repeatable, and cost-competitive production processes without using genetic modification technology.

Key customers and partnerships

In November 2023, the company partnered with Gelatex Technologies to expand the capacity and accelerate the production of cell-cultured meat by combining its media supplement with Gelatex’s plant-based scaffolds.

Funding and financials

In May 2024, TurtleTree received a EUR 2.4 million (~USD 2.6 million) grant from the European Innovation Council's Transition program. The grant recognizes the company's innovations and contributions in the cultivated meat field. The grant was earmarked for advancing ProFuse's muscle cultivation technology, which includes scaling production, securing safety regulation approvals, and fostering industry partnerships.
