Shopic is an Israel-based developer of smart cart solutions that aims to provide a frictionless shopping experience for medium and large grocery stores. Shopic offers Shop-E, an AI-powered clip-on device that can transform a regular shopping cart into a smart cart.

The Shop-E device can be picked up from its charger shelf unit and attached to a shopping cart with a single click. The device uses computer vision to identify products inserted or removed from the cart, displays the bill on the screen for products in the cart, and allows shoppers to settle their payments at the end of their store visit. The device also serves as a medium for personalized promotions, improving customer engagement. Shopic’s analytics engine also gathers live data on buyer behavior and generates insights such as buyer shopping habits, planogram compliance, and shelf stocking levels, helping optimize store management.

Key customers and partnerships

Shopic’s technology is currently used by retailers in Europe, the US, and Israel. In December 2021, Shopic announced a partnership with Shufersal, Israel’s largest supermarket chain, to install its devices in 200 stores countrywide. The Shufersal implementation was slated for early 2022. In February 2023 , Shopic partnered with the American supermarket chain Wegmans to pilot Shopic smart carts at two Wegmans locations—Alberta Drive and Pittsford stores in New York. In May 2023 , the company partnered with Microsoft Experience Center for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) to display its smart cart technology at the Experience Center in Munich. In March 2022, Shopic won the Top Technology Partner RETA Award in the “Best In-store Solution” category from the EHI Retail Institute.

The funding round was led by Qualcomm Ventures with participation from Vintage Investment Partners and Clal Insurance along with existing Shopic investors IBI Tech Fund, Tal Ventures, Claridge Israel, and Israeli supermarket chain Shufersal.
