CleanRobotics

CleanRobotics offers a robotic system called TrashBot that uses cameras, sensors, and AI to analyze waste and identify recyclables from the waste sent to landfills. The company claims that its TrashBot takes 3–5 seconds to sort each item with an accuracy rate of 95%. 

The company also offers a platform that will help businesses track the level of waste and organize trash pickup efficiently while monitoring waste type and gathering necessary data for recycling. TrashBot also displays custom educational content based on discarded items and responds to users in real-time with feedback. The company offers two new versions of its TrashBot—a smaller version called TrashBot Slim (50% smaller), targeting office spaces and small businesses, and TrashBot Zero, which will manage 3–4 separate streams of waste (recyclable, compostable, landfill, and other).

In June 2022, CleanRobotics underwent a complete rebrand with the launch of the next generation of the company’s flagship product, TrashBot Zero.

Key customers and partnerships

In August 2022, CleanRobotics stated that it is looking to partner with companies in China, Australia, and Singapore to expand its presence. In January 2023, CleanRobotics partnered with ARO to deploy TrashBot Zero nationally. In June 2023, the company partnered with Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to implement TrashBot to assist with the airport's waste management initiatives.

Funding and financials

In August 2022, the company raised USD 4.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Melco International Development Ltd. Furthermore in October 2022, the company received a grant funding of USD 370,000 to continue developing TrashBot at a funding round led by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The fresh funds were allocated for increasing headcount and improving manufacturing and R&D.
