As of November 2021, the company operated 25 autonomous trucks, reportedly serving multiple Fortune 500 companies in the US and Canada to fulfill revenue-generating orders. The company had pilot operations in four locations as of June 2022—Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Ontario, Canada—and planned to expand into Kansas . Gatik’s product collaborations include those with 1) electric vehicle manufacturer Via Motors (introduced electric autonomous box trucks; February 2021); 2) Isuzu North America to mass-produce autonomous medium-duty delivery trucks by 2023 (April 2021); 3) American multinational tire manufacturer Goodyear for tire intelligence technology ( September 2021; extended in January 2024 ); 4) fleet management solutions provider Ryder System to retrofit its autonomous technology into Ryder’s trucks and obtain its maintenance facilities ( October 2021); 5) ChargePoint, an electric vehicle (EV) charging network to offer charging infrastructure and services for Gatik’s customers ( March 2022); and 6) Cummins to obtain powertrains ( August 2022) .
Funding and financials
The company raised USD 85 million in a Series B round led by Koch Disruptive Technologies in August 2021, to further develop its autonomous technology, expand its operations across North America, increase headcount, and expand the truck fleet with new and existing customers. Before this, the company also raised CAD 9 million (USD 7.1 million) in March 2021, with CAD 1 million (USD 789,000) coming from a partnership with Ontario’s Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN).
