Italy-based Enapter develops electrolyzers using its patented anion exchange membrane (AEM) technology for hydrogen production from water and electricity. Its electrolyzers come in a stacked form, with room for flexible and modular deployment of varying sizes. In addition to electrolyzers, the company also offers an energy management system, which connects any device into a unified energy network via software integration. In May 2023 , Enapter also unveiled its AEM Multicore, the world's first megawatt-scale AEM electrolyzer to produce green hydrogen.
During September 2021, Enapter commenced constructing its 82,000 square meter Enapter Campus, facilitating research and development, warehouse storage and offices, and manufacturing in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The new facility will produce 10,000 electrolyzers per month. Mass commercialization is expected to start in 2023.
The company is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. In October 2021, Enapter was announced as one of the five finalists of the Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William, and was awarded GBP 1 million (USD 1.4 million). The company reported revenue of EUR 14.7 million (USD 15.8 million) in 2022.
Key customers and partnerships
The company has a worldwide customer base including key customers such as HyFlyer (a UK-based hydrogen aircraft project), Hyperion Motors (a US-based developer of hydrogen fuel cell cars), Delta Green (France) and Steinbeis Innovation Center siz energie+ (Germany). These customers work with Enapter’s partners for the final deployment, as the company only focuses on developing electrolyzers. The company’s list of partners are also spread worldwide, and include ElektrikGreen (US), Cero Group (UK), H2 Core Systems (Germany), PowiDian (France), Edu-Tek (India), Shenqian Technology (China), VINCI Energies (Germany) and Johnson Matthey (UK), among others.
