HappyVore (formerly known as Les Nouveaux Fermiers) is a French startup that develops plant-based meat alternatives. The company moved on from R&D to commercial production within a year from inception and claims its production methods require 11x less CO2 and 10x less water compared to its counterparts. Most products in its portfolio are made with a pea protein base and use ingredients like sunflower oil, potato starch, legumes, and natural flavorings. The product portfolio includes plant-based chipolatas, sausages, burgers, mince, aiguillettes, nuggets, and vegetable strips. These products are available at all main retail chains such as Leclerc, Carrefour, and Auchan, along with food service outlets and via the company web store. In August 2022 , the company launched its gourmet breaded supremes, followed by plant-based allumettes in September 2023 .
The company operates an industrial production facility in Chevilly, France, which it claims has a production capacity of over 10,000 tonnes, allowing HappyVore to increase innovation, development, and distribution.
Funding and financials
In June 2022 , the company raised EUR 35 million (~USD 36.83 million) in a funding round led by Invus, along with returning investors from the seed round held in 2020, bringing the total funds raised to EUR 37 million (~USD 38.9 million). The funding was raised for the development of its industrial production plant in Chevilly.
