Rebellyous Foods

Rebellyous Foods is an alternative protein startup that develops plant-based chicken alternatives like nuggets, patties, and tenders. The startup initially focused on food service establishments and schools but entered the retail space after experiencing a decline in sales during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In October 2024, the company launched the Spicy Kickin' Patty, a new plant-based chicken patty alternative designed for K-12 schools, restaurants, and foodservice providers that meets USDA National School Lunch Program requirements. It claims to be free from cholesterol, antibiotics or hormones, and features a spicy, crunchy coating designed to resemble traditional chicken patties.

Key customers and partnerships

As of February 2023, the company supplied over 100 major school districts in the US under the National School Lunch Program and increased its retail presence to 1,000+ stores. Further, in November 2023, the company partnered with Vizient, a healthcare sector-based group purchasing organization, to expand the distribution of its plant-based chicken products.

In March 2024, Rebellyous partnered with  Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to include plant-based chicken and waffles in the menus of around 100 participating schools. In September 2024, Rebellyous Foods partnered with RMS Foods to launch Mock 2, a new production system for plant-based meat products, and to advance its manufacturing capabilities.
