ZeroAvia, a hydrogen-based aviation solutions developer, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), a Saudi Arabian luxury tourism service provider. The partnership will test and develop hydrogen powered seaplanes across The Red Sea Project, a luxury regenerative tourism destination.
Under the agreement, TRSDC plans to retrofit a fleet of 30 Cessna Caravan seaplane variants using ZeroAvia’s hydrogen-electric propulsion technology.
ZeroAvia plans to install a 600-kilowatt hydrogen-electric powertrain for TRSDC’s Cessna Caravan to fly a range of 300 nautical miles by 2024.
Both companies will collaborate on a roadmap for production, supply, and infrastructure requirements to support hydrogen-powered air travel in Saudi Arabia.
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: ZeroAvia had recently signed an MoU with Ravn Alaska, a regional airline and cargo transportation provider, to develop hydrogen-electric engines for Ravn’s passenger aircraft. Ravn has ordered 30 ZeroAvia’s ZA2000 powertrains to retrofit its De Havilland Dash-8 fleet. Most of ZeroAvia’s recent partnerships were aimed at improving its aircraft technology. These include partnerships with Otto Aviation , Hyzon , De Havilland Canada , ASL Aviation , and Alaska Airlines .</ul>
