EHang Holdings Limited, a leading Chinese autonomous aerial vehicle technology company, announced that the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has formally accepted the Air Operator Certificate (AOC or OC) applications submitted by its subsidiary Guangdong EHang General Aviation Co., Ltd.
The approval marks the start of the review process for pilotless passenger eVTOL aircraft business licenses and operational qualifications. The CAAC has also established a specialized review team to continue the subsequent review process.
EHang is also collaborating with the CAAC to develop its EH216-S operational standards, providing a reference basis for the world's first commercial operation regulatory system for pilotless passenger-carrying eVTOLs.
Analyst QuickTake: EHang's collaboration with the CAAC adds to its recent ongoing efforts in 2024 to advance the low-altitude economy in China. EHang recently partnered with KC Smart Mobility in July 2024 , China Southern Airlines General Aviation in July 2024 , Wencheng County in June 2024 , and Xishan Tourism in May 2024 .
