Revo Foods, an Austrian food tech startup, has opened the TASTE FACTORY in Vienna, claimed to be the world's largest 3D food-printing facility, with a capacity to produce up to 60 tons of product per month.
The facility uses Revo Foods' in-house developed 3D Structural technology, which combines different materials like fat and protein to create complex forms. This technology enables the production of novel plant-based meat alternatives.
The first product to be produced at the TASTE FACTORY is a new version of THE FILET, a mycoprotein-based salmon alternative, which will launch at over 500 REWE Austria locations and be available to European consumers online.
Revo Foods is working with various partners on joint product developments using 3D Structural technology. New innovations are expected to be presented in early 2025.
Analyst QuickTake: Revo Foods has been expanding the range of its 3D-printed plant-based seafood products recently. In September 2023 , the company launched its whole-cut salmon filet, which it claimed was the first 3D-printed alternative meat launched into retail. Following this in 2024, Revo Foods launched THE KRAKEN , claimed to be the plant-based octopus alternative, and SMOKEY SLICES , an enhanced version 2.0 of its plant-based smoked salmon slices.
