BlackSky obtains contract to provide non-Earth imaging services for space domain awareness

Partnerships

  • BlackSky Technology, a geospatial intelligence provider, has secured a seven-figure contract from an undisclosed customer to deliver non-Earth imaging (NEI) services for Space Domain Awareness (SDA) capabilities.

  • The contract integrates its Gen-2 satellite imagery of on-orbit spacecraft into the customer's SDA assets. This expansion into SDA allows BlackSky to utilize its current high-resolution Gen-2 constellation, meeting customer demand for NEI solutions and supporting Space Situational Awareness operations.

  • BlackSky's NEI capabilities will leverage the underutilized capacity of satellites passing over oceans or in eclipse, enhancing the company's service offering and supporting space security missions.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This marks BlackSky Technology's second seven-figure contract for the provision of NEI services to advance space situational awareness; it received the first contract from HEO in September 2024 . BlackSky also recently received contracts from NASA to provide Earth observation data and from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for a five-year contract for global monitoring services.
