Kiwibot, an autonomous delivery droid manufacturer, has introduced a new business model that allows companies to rent delivery droids for specific durations. The service includes three different offerings: "Kiwibot Advertising," "Kiwibot Cargo," and "Kiwibot Leap."
The rental service follows a robot-as-a-service (RaaS) model with three distinct functionalities: Mobile advertising through Kiwibot Advertising, warehouse logistics operations through Kiwibot Cargo, and last-mile delivery services through Kiwibot Leap. Only the advertising option is available through the company's website.
The company has already tested its advertising service with AWS using five robots during Tech Week in New York City. For the Cargo service, Kiwibot claims its robots can handle hazardous chemicals, perform overnight surveillance, and help address labor shortages in warehouse facilities while providing affordable and accurate results.
Analyst QuickTake: Renting out delivery droids is not common among startups operating in the droid-based delivery segment in the last-mile delivery automation industry. Many disruptors, including Starship Technologies, Serve Robotics, and Coco, handle their deliveries, offering them within a fee-per-delivery business model. However, a few startups, such as Peyk and Bizero, also rent out their delivery droids to customers.
