Clearview AI, a developer of facial recognition-based solutions for law enforcement, has announced that its facial recognition technology was patented by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
This patent has been awarded for its ability to gather images and information publicly available on the internet and match it with similar photos to identify individuals with greater accuracy. The patent is reportedly the first of its kind received by a facial recognition company.

However, the company has expanded by entering into new contracts (with the most recently recorded being a one-year contract with the FBI ), improving the accuracy of its technology (further validated by the new patent), and being ranked number one in several categories in the facial recognition vendor test conducted by NIST. </ul>
