• Clearview AI, a developer of facial recognition-based solutions for law enforcement, has reportedly signed a one-year contract worth USD 18,000 with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) on December 30, 2021.

 • Despite not being publicly disclosed as a paying customer, the FBI is known to have used Clearview AI’s facial recognition software previously.

The company was previously awarded a USD 500,000 one-year contract by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to be used by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with the potential of going up to USD 1.5 million.

Analyst QuickTake: Despite privacy claims and limited operations in several countries, including Canada , Australia , the UK , and more recently, France , Clearview AI continues to expand operations in the US. This growth was supported by the company being ranked number one in the ‘one-to-many’ category in a facial recognition vendor test conducted last year.
