California-based Little Otter is a telepsychiatry platform focused on children and their families. It provides virtual and on-demand therapy for pediatrics and the whole family, connecting them with parenting specialists, early childhood trained therapists, couples therapists, and pediatric psychiatrists. Additionally, the platform offers proprietary assessments and quarterly mental health check-ups, creating personalized care plans for the family.
In September 2022, the company acquired emotional wellness product company Little Renegades for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition was carried out to increase Little Otter’s offerings across the care continuum and further its strategy of becoming a comprehensive platform for families’ mental health and wellness. Little Otter Health has also announced it is launching a back-to-school toolkit available through Little Renegades website. The company also launched a new service called "Kelp Line", an on-demand chat line staffed by mental health professionals to answer any emotional, behavioral, and development related questions families might have.
Key customers and partnerships
In March 2023, the company partnered with healthcare company Sana to provide children and their families access to mental health care. Through the partnership, Sana members were given access to Little Otter’s platform to schedule consultations via Little Otter’s app.
Funding and financials
In January 2022, the company concluded an oversubscribed Series A funding round of USD 22 million led by CRV. The funds were set aside to expand its geographic footprint across all 50 US states by 2023 from its current market presence in California, Colorado, North Carolina, and Florida. The proceeds were also earmarked for enhancing its platform, becoming an in-network benefit, and growing its leadership team.
