HAAS Alert delivers real-time alerts with the objective of preventing automotive collisions. The firm's proprietary digital alert system, Safety Cloud, uses cellular vehicle-to-infrastructure (C-V2X) sensors installed in vehicles to gather roadway hazard data, which is then coupled with predictive technology to alert drivers in real time. HAAS Alerts specializes in providing solutions for vehicles that have high death and injury rates from collisions such as emergency responders and construction crews. Hence, the platform has a number of add-ons for specific use cases such as a responder-to-responder (R2R) feature that sends notifications to responders when other Safety Cloud-equipped vehicles are in active response mode and approaching the same intersection. In July 2022, the company expanded its offering with the launch of the “Situational Awareness Dashboard” that is equipped with a suite of fleet management tools designed for fleet managers and operators.

HAAS follows a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, where vehicle fleets can either opt for the hardware setup or can integrate with the Safety Cloud platform via the vehicle’s existing CAD, GPS, or telematics system. In April 2021, the firm began introducing its Safety Cloud platform for connected consumer vehicles. The firm claims that at least eight vehicle manufacturers already have the platform preinstalled on their fleet vehicles. In March 2022, Safety Cloud was integrated into apple maps where iPhone users would receive real-time roadway hazard information and warnings. In April 2022, Safety Cloud was updated to be compatible with work zone data exchange (WZDx), developed by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT), allowing it to receive data from WZDx compatible work zones. With this development, the firm claims to be the industry’s first and only fully-scaled connected safety platform capable of delivering in-vehicle work zone warnings in real-time. In January 2023, the company deployed its Safety Cloud solution for vehicles using the Android Automotive operating system (AAOS).

Key customers and partnerships

As of August 2021, Safety Cloud has been installed in more than 1,000 public and private sector vehicles ranging from fire trucks and ambulances to tow trucks and school buses.

The company also partnered with 1) Traffic and Parking Control Co (TAPCO), a company specializing in traffic safety innovations (April 2024) , and 2) Wanco, a traffic safety equipment manufacturer, to provide enhanced real-time digital alerts (April 2022) . HAAS Alert also joined 1) the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector Partner (PSP) program to expand public sector business (November 2023) and 2) the AAA Automotive Preferred Supplier program to improve road safety (February 2023).

Funding and financials

In January 2024, the company raised a growth investment led by Volition Capital to accelerate the growth of its safety cloud platform. Previously, HAAS alert raised USD 5 million in seed funding in August 2021 led by Blu ventures and R^2.
