Samsung Electronics (KRX: 005930 or SE) is a global electronics manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The company recorded a revenue of KWR 302 trillion (USD 234 billion) in 2022.

SE has four operating segments: Device eXperience (DX), Device Solutions (DS), Samsung Display (SDC), and Harman. The DX segment produces consumer electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets. SE is the leader in the global smartphone market with a market share of ~20% in 2021. The DS segment includes SE’s semiconductor business;  Samsung also leads the global memory chip market. The SDC segment offers display panels primarily targeting mobile phones. SE acquired Harman International Industries in 2017, which is now the company’s automotive electronics components business.

America is SE’s largest market by revenue (~39% of total revenue), followed by Europe, Asia and Africa, and South Korea. As stated during its investor presentation in January 2023, SE aims to sustain its leadership across the smartphone segment with the launch of new foldable and 5G-enabled devices. In March 2023, SE also announced plans to develop a large-scale chip-making base over the next 20 years with the support of the South Korean government. SE’s New Environmental Strategy 2022 targets to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for all operations in the DX division by 2030 and for the DS division by 2050.
