Steakholder Foods (formerly MeaTech prior to August 2022) is an Israeli biotechnology company developing proprietary 3D-printing technology, technological processes, and cell-cultured meat products.
The company has made significant strides since its inception, demonstrating its capability to grow muscle and fat stem cells separately and combine them into structured meat products. Some of its notable developments include the world’s largest bio-printed cultured steak, a new muscle-stem cell differentiation process, cultivated pork from porcine cells, bovine cell lines, and Omakase Beef Morsels. Adding to its list of milestones, in November 2023, the company announced achieving over 75% cost reduction of its growth media for animal cell cultivation compared to rates two years ago.
In May 2023, Steakholder Foods announced its new 3D-printing business model to provide 3D-printing technology and bio-inks for other hybrid meat and cell-cultured meat producers. In September 2023, the company launched its proprietary Light CAD Editor, a software that can be used with its fusion printers that allows B2B clients to create, test, and optimize 3D models and fibrous textures.
Steakeholder Foods has held several tasting events (Israel and US) for its cell-cultured products and held multiple patents and intellectual property rights protection for its business and technologies in the US and overseas.

In January 2023, the company received a grant of up to USD 1 million funded by the Singapore Israel Industrial R&D Foundation (SIIRD) to develop cultivated eel and grouper products in collaboration with Umami Meats. These two companies also signed an MoU previously in July 2022 to collaboratively develop 3D-printed cultured structured seafood, making this their second collaboration.
In July 2023, the company signed a Memorandum of Agreement for Strategic Cooperation (MOA) with an accredited Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-based governmental body to advance food security efforts using Steakholder Foods' 3D-printing technology for cultivated meat. The partnership aimed to build a pilot plant and later establish a large-scale production facility in the Persian Gulf region.
In February 2024, the company signed an MoU with Wyler Farms, a leader in alternative protein products, to produce a plant-based 3D-printed steak using Steakholder Foods' Fusion Pro 3D printers and NutriBlend ink.
