<ul><li>Trigo, an Israeli computer vision startup, announced the launch of a second hybrid autonomous grocery store in partnership with the German supermarket chain Rewe group. The first autonomous grocery store in partnership with Rewe was launched in October 2021, in Cologne, Germany.<ul>
The new REWE store will be located in a 400 square meter (approximately 4,300 square feet) space in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin. The store will use a combination of artificial intelligence, computer vision, and off-the-shelf hardware and will allow customers to simply enter the store using a loyalty card, pick up the required items, and walk out. It will also offer a regular checkout option alongside the self-checkout options. The new store will feature weighted items for the first time, allowing customers to purchase fruits and vegetables by weight.
Rewe Group operates nearly 6,000 stores in Germany and 3,500 stores internationally.
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: The company has been expanding its presence globally with partnerships with grocery and supermarket chains. In January 2022, Trigo deployed its first pilot in the US with Wakefern , the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the US. In 2021, the company formed several partnerships across Europe, including a partnership with Tesco, UK, discount supermarket chain Aldi Nord , Germany, and Netto supermarket chain in Germany.<ul>
