Amazon Just Walk Out technology to power a concession store in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

Partnerships

  • Amazon partnered with Star Concessions Ltd, an operator of airport concession stores, to launch a checkout-free concessions store powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

  • The store, named “Grab & Fly,” allows customers to insert their credit card at the entry gate, pick up their shopping items, and exit the store for automated checkout. The store offers a range of snacks, accessories, electronics, drinks, and souvenirs.

  • Star Concessions Ltd is headquartered in Dallas and currently operates over 45 food, beverage, and retail establishments in DFW International Airport, Dallas Love Field, and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

  • Analyst QuickTake : Checkout-free store formats are being adopted progressively at high-traffic venues such as airports. In March 2021, Amazon launched a Just Walk Out powered checkout-free store at Dallas Love Field Airport in partnership with the travel retailer Hudson. In December 2021, Zippin deployed its checkout-free technology at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and Mashgin , in partnership with HMSHost, installed 60 of its touchless self-checkout systems at eight high-traffic international airports. Meanwhile, players such as Zippin, Amazon, and Instacart have also opened checkout free stores at other high-traffic venues, including sports stadiums such as Houston’s NRG Stadium , T-Mobile Park , Houston Astros’ baseball stadium , Boston’s Fenway Park , Lumen Field, NFL Stadium , and Kyle Field football stadium in Texas.
