Einride, an electric and autonomous truck manufacturer, partnered with AB InBev, to supply and manage a fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks to deliver beer across the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg). This marks the company’s entry into Benelux.
The company will deploy six electric trucks paired with its connected freight mobility platform, as the first phase in early 2023. The trucks will be rolled out in Leuven and Brussels areas. The partnership also includes providing charging infrastructure and data.
Einride has not yet disclosed the electric truck manufacturing partner for the deployment. It currently has partnerships with manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz Trucks, BYD, and Scania to obtain the trucks.
Analyst QuickTake: The necessary funds for today’s expansion were provided to Einride when it raised USD 110 million in Series B funding in May 2021, partially for the purpose. Meanwhile, AB InBev too seems keen on reducing the carbon footprint as we notice the company already has partnerships with other autonomous, and battery and fuel cell-electric truck makers such as Embark, Nikola, and Tesla.
