Via, a provider of mobility management systems, has partnered with Lorain County Transit to launch ViaLC, an on-demand public transit service.
The service will incorporate Via's technology to streamline existing services, enhancing scheduling efficiency and communication with riders through automated reminders.
ViaLC will operate on weekdays, providing options for those who need wheelchairs and/or those who do not have smartphone access . The service will employ Via’s intelligent routing algorithms to combine rides for passengers headed in similar directions and designate efficient pickup points, extending reach in less accessible areas.
Analyst QuickTake: Via has a history of collaborating to improve transit services, previously partnering with public transport companies and city authorities like the City of Gastonia, Trinity Metro in Tarrant County, Texas; Charlottesville Area Transit in Albemarle County, Virginia; and Din Tur in Sweden. These partnerships have been part of Via's ongoing strategy to enhance public transportation solutions.
