Wing, Alphabet's drone delivery division, has partnered with DoorDash and Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) to launch drone-based delivery services in Victoria, Australia. This marks Wing's first expansion into the state after five years in South East Queensland.

The service will be available to residents in 26 suburbs in Melbourne’s east through the DoorDash app.

Wing has also expanded its services in the US, launching drone delivery from two new locations in Arlington and Fort Worth, Texas, in partnership with Walmart, providing service to multiple localities in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex.

Analyst QuickTake: DoorDash and Wing first partnered in November 2022 to offer drone-based food deliveries to the latter’s customers in Queensland, where Wing’s primary operations are based. Later, in April 2023, the duo expanded the service to include Ipswich, Australia, and the US in March 2024. When considering Wing’s history with Walmart, the two first partnered in August 2023 to offer drone-based deliveries in Dallas, Texas, and extended to expand coverage in Texas in January and February 2024.
