Einride, an electric and autonomous truck manufacturer, has partnered with German supermarket chain REWE to deliver seven fully electric trucks for REWE’s delivery fleet. REWE also plans to purchase four additional electric trucks for the fleet later this year.
Einride will retrofit “Mercedes-Benz eActros 300” trucks with its technologies and connected software for the purpose.
The trucks will carry out deliveries to around 306 supermarkets in Berlin and Brandenburg from the logistics centers in Oranienburg and Berlin-Mariendorf.
REWE expects the deployment of the trucks to save up to 189 tons of CO2 per year.
