Jersey City launches free Citymapper app for public transportation

Product updates

  • Jersey City in New Jersey has launched Citymapper JC, a free app by Via that integrates all of the city's transit services in one location to help residents and visitors navigate public transportation in and around Jersey City more easily.

  • The app provides information on local schedules, stations, and stops for all bus, PATH, rail, ferry, subway, and Via Jersey City rides. It offers customizable trips, a bus tracker with real-time location updates, automatic re-routing around disruptions, and safer biking options with turn-by-turn audio directions.

  • The city claims that the app will strengthen its commitment to connecting more residents with jobs, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing quality of life.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Via has been entering several partnerships to improve transit services. It had previously partnered with public transport companies and city authorities like Lorain County, City of Gastonia, Trinity Metro in Tarrant County, Texas; Charlottesville Area Transit in Albemarle County, Virginia; and Din Tur in Sweden. These partnerships have been part of Via's ongoing strategy to enhance public transportation solutions.
