ActiveCampaign is a customer experience automation (CXA) platform that specializes in email marketing and marketing automation. By September 2021, the platform catered to more than 150,000 customers ranging from ecommerce sites, B2B, and B2C clients. The platform offers 600+ pre-built marketing automation recipes that allow the personalization of marketing campaigns. It also features tools for customer relationship management (CRM) and customer targeting and segmentation as well as 870+ integrations with other apps and services. 

ActiveCampaign has built a reputation for customer service. In January 2020, the firm introduced the industry’s first customer success commitment which included the first anti-no-reply policy to ensure that all feedback received from customers will be responded to. ActiveCampaign claims that as a result, customers save 20 hours per month on average by making use of its marketing automation services. As of Q3 2022, the firm implemented 400+ product improvements based on customer ideas.

In November 2021, ActiveCampaign entered the sales engagement space with the launch of a sales engagement platform to unify the roles of marketing and sales teams. In June 2022, the firm introduced a no-code data model to customize and automate workflows.

In April 2022, ActiveCampaign executed its first acquisition , acquiring Postmark (transactional email delivery service), and DMARC digest (email authentication and monitoring service) in order to grow its email marketing services. In October 2023, the company acquired Onesend, a suite of tools for franchise and multi-location brands, to enhance tools for franchise and multi-location brands.

The firm has also entered into product integrations with a number of firms including with CallRail, a phone call tracking and analytics platform to add call analytics intelligence to its CXA platform.

Key customers and partnerships

In February 2023, the firm partnered with ActiveEngine, a service provider of ActiveCampaign tasks, to offer B2B companies a solution to optimize their lead nurturing and sales processes while maximizing revenue. In April 2023, the company partnered with the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), to assist businesses that are expanding in the country.

Funding and financials

ActiveCampaign raised USD 240 million in its Series C funding in April 2021 led by Dragoneer Investment Group and Tiger Global Management at a valuation of USD 3 billion. By April 2021, the company reported that it had achieved more than USD 165 million in recurring revenue and planned to increase its staff to more than 1,000 employees by end 2021 in order to further enhance customer support.
