Zipline, a drone-based delivery services provider, has achieved a milestone of 1 million commercial drone deliveries. The drones have reportedly flown over 70 million miles across four continents, delivering more than 10 million products.
The company is expanding its operations in the US with the recent approval of its advanced onboard perception system, allowing drones to operate beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS).
This expansion will include rolling out the new Platform 2 (P2) system to more than 30 million people in 10 states, in partnership with Flynn Group-owned Panera Bread, Memorial Hermann Health System, and Jet’s Pizza to deliver items starting with the greater Seattle, Houston, and Detroit metro areas.

The company unveiled its latest P2 drone-based delivery system in March 2023 and has so far partnered with companies including WellSpan Health, Cleveland Clinic, Mendocino Farms, OhioHealth, GNC, Pagliacci, Associated Couriers, Sweetgreen, Michigan Medicine, MultiCare Health Systems, Intermountain Health, and the Government of Rwanda , in addition to the partners the company is deploying the system with today.
