Via, a provider of mobility management systems, has partnered with Passaic County, New Jersey, to introduce an on-demand micro-transit service for residents of Passaic and Clifton.
The new program will utilize Via's technology to offer app-based transit services with smaller vehicles, providing first/last-mile connections to transit stops. The service, scheduled to launch in mid-2025, will complement existing paratransit services and include accessible features for riders of all abilities. Booking will be available through mobile app, phone, and web-based options.
Analyst QuickTake: Via has entered several partnerships to improve transit services. It has previously partnered with public transport companies and city authorities like Jersey City, Lorain County, City of Gastonia, Trinity Metro in Tarrant County, Texas; Charlottesville Area Transit in Albemarle County, Virginia; and Din Tur in Sweden.
