Rokid is a Chinese developer of 5G-enabled headsets and glasses. The company’s latest product is the Max AR Lite (announced in April 2024), featuring the Rokid Max 2 AR glasses and the Station 2 host unit. The Rokid Max 2 AR glasses weigh 75 g, with an adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD), minimizing the need for corrective lenses and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. The Max 2 and Station 2 combination allows for a multi screen mode, where users can anchor multiple virtual displays (300 in) in physical space.

Previously, Rokid announced the Rokid Max AR glasses (March 2023, priced at USD 379). The glasses, weighing 76 grams, offered a 215-inch virtual screen with an OLED display, at a resolution of 3,840x1,200. Additionally, in August 2023, the company launched the Rokid AR Studio, which consisted of the Max AR glasses and the Rokid Station Pro computing unit, priced at ~USD 550. The product offers controller-free operations by utilizing natural motion input and voice commands.

Furthermore, the company launched the Rokid Air Pro in March 2022, an advanced version of its predecessor (Rokid Air, which sold 30,000 units globally as of August 2022) and weighs 83 grams, with a 43-degree field of view, 1920x1080 display resolution, and private spatial sound.

Older products launched included 1) the AR headband “X-Craft” (November 2020), the first explosion-proof headband with 5G and GPS capabilities that comes with  an AI algorithm to enable frontline workers to update information automatically, 2) the “Rokid Glass 2” (January 2020), a molecular AR glass designed for multi-use scenarios. The glasses weigh 96 grams and include a high-resolution display (40-degree field of view) powered by waveguide optic technology, hands-free voice control, detachable lenses, and temperature detection.

Key customers and partnerships

The company has partnered with multiple companies including Agora and TeamViewer to leverage its platform capabilities. Rokid also has partnerships with automobile manufacturers including Audi and Volkswagen to integrate its technology into their vehicles.

Funding and financials

The company’s latest funding round was in January 2024, where the company raised USD 71 million in a funding round led by Hefei's municipal government. The fresh capital was earmarked to improve spatial computing capabilities on its AR glasses.

Previously, in November 2023, the company raised USD 112 million in a Series C funding round led by NetDragon Websoft Holdings, which valued the company at USD 1 billion. Proceeds were earmarked to expand the company’s reach overseas, bolster its AR glasses and AI voice interactive system, YodaOS. The company also formed a five-year partnership as part of the investment, to build XR experiences leveraging NetDragon’s expertise in internet and mobile platforms.
