Rokid is a Chinese developer of 5G-enabled headsets and glasses. The company’s latest product is the AR Joy 2 (announced in September 2024), consisting of the Rokid Max 2 AR glasses and the Rokid Station, designed to provide an immersive content experience on the go. Previously, the company announced the Max AR Lite (announced in April 2024, priced at USD 749), featuring the Rokid Max 2 AR glasses and the Station 2 host unit. The Rokid Max 2 AR glasses weigh 75 g, with an adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD), minimizing the need for corrective lenses and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. The Max 2 and Station 2 combination allows for a multi screen mode, where users can anchor multiple virtual displays (300 in) in physical space.
In November 2024, Rokid partnered with BOLON to launch AI-powered smart glasses. The device is powered by Zhi Xiaobao AI assistant which supports voice commands, includes voiceprint recognition for Alipay payments, and allows users to view message notifications directly through the glasses.
Prior to this, Rokid announced the Rokid Max AR glasses (March 2023, priced at USD 379). The glasses, weighing 76 grams, offered a 215-inch virtual screen with an OLED display, at a resolution of 3,840x1,200. Additionally, in August 2023, the company launched the Rokid AR Studio, which consisted of the Max AR glasses and the Rokid Station Pro computing unit, priced at ~USD 550. The product offers controller-free operations by utilizing natural motion input and voice commands.
Furthermore, the company launched the Rokid Air Pro in March 2022, an advanced version of its predecessor (Rokid Air, which sold 30,000 units globally as of August 2022) and weighs 83 grams, with a 43-degree field of view, 1920x1080 display resolution, and private spatial sound.
Older products launched included 1) the AR headband “X-Craft” (November 2020), the first explosion-proof headband with 5G and GPS capabilities that comes with an AI algorithm to enable frontline workers to update information automatically, 2) the “Rokid Glass 2” (January 2020), a molecular AR glass designed for multi-use scenarios. The glasses weigh 96 grams and include a high-resolution display (40-degree field of view) powered by waveguide optic technology, hands-free voice control, detachable lenses, and temperature detection.
Key customers and partnerships
The company has partnered with multiple companies including Agora and TeamViewer to leverage its platform capabilities. Rokid also has partnerships with automobile manufacturers including Audi and Volkswagen to integrate its technology into their vehicles.
